DO NOT leave any hot/burning smudges unattended. While burning smudges and while fanning smudge smoke with smudge feather, keep Abalone shell or other smudge burners underneath hot/burning smudge to collect hot/burning ashes as they fall, this can prevent any possible fires and burns.  DO NOT allow hot/burning smudges to come into direct physical contact with anything, including smudge feather (used to fan smudging smoke), this is to prevent fires and burns.
